For this styled shoot, we got to do a mini-engagement photoshoot and then a glorious wedding shoot at Justine’s Secret House! The tall skyline of downtown Austin was the perfect setting for the kind of moody and modern engagement we were capturing - the concrete rooftop was so simple and dramatic, and meant that Courtney and Kristen’s chemistry really took center stage.
Modern and Creative Wedding Shoot at Justine’s Secret House
The real centerpiece of this styled shoot, though, was the incredible Justine’s Secret House. This private venue has built mystique through its exclusivity, but behind the gates, it’s an amazing Victorian building with an intimate courtyard. To take advantage of its inimitable atmosphere, we decided to design a modern wedding with bright and creative elements. We wanted to embrace the moody, bistro vibes and colors of the venue, and juxtapose them with modern altar, patterns, place settings, and stationery.
It’s All in the Details
One of the stand-out elements of the styling here was the fabulous Feathers and Frosting wedding cake! It was frosted to look like a painting of flowers, and the colors perfectly chimed with the real blooms in vibrant oranges and pinks. It was the perfect contrast to the dark and historical elements of the wedding venue. The most triumphant moment of contrast, though, was the ceremony site - a neon triangle altar in the midst of the courtyard!
