Puerto Rico never fails to give you culture, tradition, colors, wonderful scenery and of course, amazing people.

I've been taking annual trips to Puerto Rico to visit the island, but I haven't been there since Hurricane Maria. I decided to do something special and orchestrate a styled shoot to show off the beauty of the island.

I reached out to Karen to help coordinate this and wow... did she deliver! She designed every aspect of this styled shoot perfectly and displayed a tropical theme like no other. To say, capturing the essence of the island came naturally to her, would be an understatement!

Every corner in Old San Juan gave off so much inspiration. It was truly a creative mind’s playground, which was perfectly paired with a bohemian style vision and a romance that swept through the streets of the city.

We were so glad we found Barbie and Harold to pose as our bride and groom. They made the shoot so amazing and worthwhile. We barely had to direct them as they knew exactly what to do!

I also invited my friends Sharayah and Ryan from Hereafter Films to be the videographers on this shoot. You'll be able to find their footage in my bio video, and it will also be featured in a separate video for this shoot.

After Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico has risen proudly. Today it stands tall and content, beautiful and inspiring, wrapped up in the strong warmth of its people. I wanted these photographs to show this. Contemporary meets old-fashioned, traditions blend beautifully with new trends and bright flowers and décor colors paired amazingly with the subtleness of Barbie's white wedding gown.

Old San Juan showed off the classic vibe we were looking for; everything from the street musician Barbie and Harold danced to, to the cobblestone streets, and the most epic sunset. Trends might come and go, but a beautiful tropical wedding in Puerto Rico is something that never goes out of style. This truly was a shoot to remember!

Making it even more memorable, this tropical bohemian shoot was also featured on Wandering Weddings. You can see more by reading their recent blog, 25 Eloping Ideas to Inspire You to Plan Your Elopement!
