Built in the 1930s as a Baptist church and a mere five minutes from downtown Austin, The Cathedral ATX was refurbished by artists to create a unique and unforgettable location that is used for work, events, and more. Toni and Jason, hoping to capture the Austin vibes on their wedding day, found this charming location to be the best place to share their lives with family and friends.
Music, Food, and More
The couple wanted to host an intimate wedding with around 50 guests, hoping to represent their lives and Austin’s culture as well. With abundant natural light and three levels of space, The Cathedral offers a unique location for any event, and was exactly what Toni and Jason were looking for. To capture those live-music-in-Austin vibes, they brought in live musicians to play during the pre-ceremony and cocktail hour. A beautiful catering spread kept everyone satisfied and happy, especially after being apart for so long due to the pandemic.
“We love art, music and mid-century modern aesthetics and found The Cathedral ATX to be the best place to work with to build around our vision.”
Austin Vibes Make a Special Day
There were many special moments in Toni and Jason’s big day. The couple were happy to involve family in the planning, and two nieces choreographed and performed a song and dance for everyone. They also quickly realized the importance of having a good photographer and videographer present to capture all of the little moments they couldn’t be there for. Ever since, they’ve been enjoying pictures and videos as they fondly remember things like everyone dancing together and the amazing food.
Preserving the Memories
Another special part was the best man and maid of honor speeches, and the maid of honor even helped with the planning in addition to two of Toni’s other friends. The couple advised finding a venue that has approved vendors that they regularly work with to find the best your location has to offer. They know that money can be a concern, so they recommend that you don’t stress too much because there’s always a way to make things work. And finally, make sure lots of pictures are taken so you can appreciate every moment and interaction that happened, and so you can always remember and look back on one of the most important days of your life.
