About 20 miles southwest of downtown Austin, you’ll find a beautiful outdoor chapel. Chapel Dulcinea is one of the most unique places to get married in the country (and it’s one of our recommended venues)! Tatum and Jake chose this small venue to celebrate their union with an intimate and memorable elopement-style ceremony.

An Ongoing Journey

Notably, Jake and Tatum were high school sweethearts! Marriage was the next step on a long journey that they’ve traveled together for years–and will travel for many years to come. They wanted to avoid the stress of an extravagant wedding with a mile-long guest list, so they opted for something intimate and limited to immediate family. The wedding incorporated fall colors for a rustic Boho look that complemented the surrounding scenery and included elements of mauve, cream, and maroon (a nod to their status as Aggies). Neither of them enjoys being the center of attention, so a celebratory weekend with close family was the way to go.

“Jake and I have been together for many years and were high school sweethearts! We wanted a wedding day that would best reflect our personalities: family-oriented, laid-back, and romantic.”

The Little Moments Add Up

Their favorite thing about their wedding day: it was all about them! They wisely avoided the pressure of a big wedding and kept things simple and personal to ensure that it was an authentic and meaningful experience for them both. They loved Chapel Dulcinea and its romantic backstory, gorgeous views, and unique feel. Another highlight was Scott Payne, the minister who officiated the wedding; Scott was hilarious and delighted the couple and their family to no end.

Tips to Do It Right

What’s the best way to plan a wedding? “Be true to yourself!”, was this couple’s advice. Your wedding day is about you and your partner; focus on that, and the rest will fall into place. Their wedding day will be a cherished memory for years to come for the couple and their families. A final piece of advice from Tatum: invest in a great photographer!
