This charming, Victorian-styled celebration took place on Halloween weekend — the perfect time for a spooky wedding. Katie and Blake told their guests that the vibe was “Adams Family Formal”, and Justine’s Secret House had just the right touches of vintage and moody details for the setting.

Every Detail Mattered at this Spooky Wedding

This was such a great example of atmosphere being created by thoughtful details, without going so far into a theme that it feels gimmicky. Katie and Blake chose to lean into Victorian-esque attire for their spooky wedding, with a vintage 70s Victorian revival dress for Katie and a morning jacket and ascot for Blake. In one of the crowning moments of the evening, they had their favorite drag queen, Louisiana Purchase, host the evening – she was a hit with their family.

Some of the other details that made a big difference were how they laid the reception tables with vintage-looking masquerade masks, and provided face crayons for guests later in the evening (with some pretty funny results!) Probably the most unique part of this spooky wedding, though, was that the happy couple drove around in a rented hearse!

‘Everything Turned Out Perfect’

One of the most heartwarming elements of this wedding was that Katie got to have all five of her brothers in the same place. Growing up, they never got to be all together in the same house, so this was one of the most special parts of the day for her. That sense of warmth really pervaded the whole day – nothing ever felt formal or forced.

‘While we had a rehearsal dinner, we never actually practiced anything, so during our ceremony we made lots of mistakes like placing the ring on the wrong hand,’ Katie remembers. But ‘looking back, I wouldn't have changed a thing. Everything turned out perfect: even the mistakes seemed funny and on point.’
