A Fusion of Culture and Personality to be Remembered | Sabrina + Rehman

It hasn’t been that long since we shared Sabrina and Rehman’s engagement story, but today we get to talk about their wedding! The couple found themselves wishing to respect the customs of their culture and religion but also desired their wedding to feel personal and representative of them and their relationship. The result was an event that they’ll never forget.

Honoring Tradition and Commitment

Sabrina and Rehman first celebrated in an intimate traditional ceremony known as a Nikkah, an essential part of an Ismaili wedding. As the Nikkah doesn’t leave much room for personalization, this was a close event with just family in which the couple wrote and exchanged vows and rings. Next up was the wedding! This is where Sabrina and Rehman’s individuality and personality could truly shine through in elements like a giant candy bar instead of a cake, a friend who wrote and officiated the ceremony, and cocktail napkins featuring their dog, Bluesy. Rehman works as a film editor, so instead of a seating chart with numbers, they had movie titles with line drawings of film frames. Their wedding was undeniably unique.

A Fusion of Culture and Personality

The couple share a love of the macabre, so they opted for Bohemian Gothic-inspired decor with florals to match. Sabrina wore jewelry from her mother’s collection in addition to an array of outfits for each occasion. Friends and family arrived from all over the country–and even India–to enjoy this perfect fusion of culture and personality. Favorite moments from the event included Sabrina walking down the aisle with both parents, everyone having fun taking pictures at the photo booth, and watching as the adults demolished the candy bar. The couple and their guests had a magical and joyful time as they celebrated their love and commitment.

The Quiet Moments in Between

Sabrina’s most cherished moment occurred right after their vows were finished and the couple walked back to their suite together. They enjoyed a moment alone with their dog and took it all in. While Sabrina and Rehman knew they wanted their wedding to be personal and unique, they also knew that most guests wouldn't notice all of the little details. It’s important not to stress too much and to make sure you schedule some time to relax in the lead-up to the event. The couple recommend a nice dinner or a massage to keep yourself grounded and grateful. The most important detail is the smile on your face on the day of–the clearest sign to all of your guests that your wedding is a joyful moment to be remembered.
