Amidst the diverse and vibrant offerings of South Congress Avenue, Umeko and Clark showed me what their strong and loving relationship was all about. I really enjoyed my time with this couple, and this photo shoot was a great opportunity to get to know them and to witness the steadfast love that had led them here.
Sometimes, It's Right In Front Of You
Umeko and Clark first met at work. Umeko was working a desk job in a corporate office where Clark happened to be the cafe chef. They quickly found themselves making excuses to talk to each other, letting their shared love of food build the foundation for their relationship. It wasn’t long until their friendship had grown into something more.
A Moment for Family and Love
Umeko and Clark have been together for eleven years and enjoyed building a relationship and family without the pressures of marriage. On a road trip to visit Clark’s parents in Las Vegas for Thanksgiving 2020, the family of five stopped at a bed and breakfast in Sedona, Arizona. Clark had a plan, and he snuck out to the balcony with a bottle of wine before asking Umeko to join him. There, she found him, “...on one knee and with a gorgeous ring.” Umeko said yes! And then immediately shared the news with their kids.
“We had an amazing time in Sedona celebrating love in the most beautiful place. We now stop in Sedona on every road trip to Las Vegas.”
A Unique and Special Relationship
Clark and Umeko are self-described “go-with-our-own-flow” type of people, and waited for marriage until it felt right for them and their children. They share a love of food and cooking, and they share that love with their children whenever they can. Cooking also gives them the opportunity to explore their Filipino and Indonesian culture with each other and with their kids.
Looking to the Future
The happy couple can’t wait for their wedding, especially the reception! Umeko and Clark are so excited to share their special day (and food!) with their families who will be traveling from all over to attend. Nothing matters more than coming together with their kids and family to share in this joyous celebration.
