Located a mere 16 minute drive from Downtown Austin, House on the Hill is an enchanting country-side escape and a perfect venue for an intimate, Southern wedding. Situated on a hill in Travis County, with a stunning, luscious view overlooking Hill Country, House on the Hill is a secluded, private manor house that doubles as a venue and vacation get-away home.
Sprawling Acres
One of the magical features of House on the Hill, is the lushious outside area. The house itself sits on a 10 acre estate, full of rich trees, sprawling grassy areas, and hillside. It is hard to believe that the bustle of Austin city centre is within reach. House on the Hill is an oasis - peaceful and quiet, so much so that it feels worlds away from everyday life.
The house itself is the epitome of Southwestern style. It is quintessential, homely, and grand. From the vaulted ceilings, to the saltillo tile, to the wrap around decks where one can watch the sunset over the property - it feels old-worldly and splendid.
House on the Hill: A Weekend to Remember
Weddings at House on the Hill are so much more than just an event: they become a weekend to remember. While the venue itself has capacity for 150 guests, making it perfect for a more close knit and intimate ceremony, there is on-site lodging for up to 20 people. This means that close family and the wedding party can attend a rehearsal dinner, and stay onsite the night before the wedding - making the morning festivities and the joy of getting ready together even more special.
Your guests will be comfortable, making memories together, meeting new people - and you’ll experience even more of the joy of camaraderie at the wedding itself. More so, your guests can enjoy the amenities, unwind in the sprawling garden, hop in the outdoor pool, and enjoy a break from the busy-ness of city life! There are three separate guest houses that can each sleep four guests, along with four additional bedrooms in the main facility space.
House on the Hill: Amenities and Features
House on the Hill is a versatile venue, boasting multiple location options for your ceremony and reception. You can even take your event out into nature and say your nuptials by the water pond, with the limestone waterfall cascading down behind you.
The covered pavilion is the perfect location for a seated dinner, or you could even turn this space into an enchanting dance floor and have your first dance together while the sun sets through the trees in the backdrop. Stunning.
Since House of the Hill is so perfectly secluded, your al fresco reception can continue on deep into the night, since there are no late-night music curfews! I had the privilege of shooting a wedding at House on the Hill - it was the perfect, intimate DIY ceremony. The guests were outside, enjoying the grounds, and playing cornhole until late into the night: a perfect evening.
Packages and Timings
House on the Hill offers a variety of price packages and popular weekend options that allow you to fully take over the venue from 4pm on Friday night until midday on Sunday - meaning that you and your wedding coordinator can have ample time to do decoration, set up, and facilitate any external vendor arrivals. You’ll be able to conduct your rehearsal ceremony and rehearsal dinner all on site - making for a smooth and stress free weekend!
On top of this, they offer tiered pricing with best value offers on Thursday through Saturday, and Saturday through Monday packages. (Note that additional nights can be added at the convenience fee of $600 if you are hosting out of town guests for a little longer!).

As a true Texan myself, I know the appeal of hosting your wedding in a venue that exudes South Western style. While I love the bustle of Austin, there is something special about shooting out of town, and capturing the magic of the countryside that we are spoiled to be surrounded by!
I love the versatility that Austin affords you as a photographer - and love the pivot between shooting city-scape weddings, and then juxtaposing this with stunning weddings just outside Austin city limits.
