While Amy had no intention of planning a wedding, Ian had his own thoughts about their union. They settled on an elopement ceremony with family and a planned friends party later on, but ended up celebrating it all in one unforgettable, authentic day. Amy fell in love with all that Sekrit Theater had to offer: a beautiful greenhouse, the Sekrit kitties, and an intimate setting.

Focus on What Matters

As the couple didn’t approach this event from an extensive planning standpoint, many things fell into place as they went along. However, there were three things they decided were necessary: great food, a wonderful photographer, and a day that felt authentic and true to them as a couple. A mistake in invitation ordering decided navy as one of their colors, and the skilled florist helped them coordinate it with peach accompanied by pinks, creams, and greenery. They opted for a small reception venue that offered the amazing food they wanted, and Amy started to plan a surprise!

A Sekrit Theater and a Secret Performance

One of the things many know Austin for is an abundance of live music. Attending live shows together was a common activity early on in Amy and Ian’s relationship, and Ian even ended up striking up a friendship with the singer of a band they both enjoyed, High Desert Queen. Amy knew it would be the perfect surprise if she could arrange for the band to play at the reception. Though they aren’t the typical choice for a reception (they are a metal band), having them there felt right to the couple. There were some dicey moments and close calls, but Ian had no idea and was sufficiently surprised.

Unforgettable, Authentic, and Serendipitous

“It’s your day; do it your way! You can do as much or as little as you like. Keep it personal and authentic to who you are as individuals and a couple.”

Amy & Ian

So much of their big day was unforgettable and amazing, so it’s hard for them to choose their favorite parts! Amy being walked down the aisle by her father, the couple sharing their vows, and everyone having the opportunity to connect were some of the standout moments. Planning a wedding can be stressful and overwhelming, but choosing vendors that you love and can trust may make all the difference. While this couple may not have set out to plan a wedding, they ultimately created a beautifully unforgettable and authentic day for friends and family to celebrate their union. For Amy and Ian, this is only the beginning.
